Electoral Commission facing more than 500 LC1 petitions after 28 July polls
Commission official Abubakar Kayondo confirmed the caseload. President Museveni has also spoken about disputes in Nangabo and Kasangati.
The Electoral Commission is handling more than 500 petitions from the 28 July LC1 elections, commission official Abubakar Kayondo said this week. Village elections are where most Ugandans actually meet the state. A pile of 500 files means a pile of villages that do not accept the posted result. President Museveni has separately commented on disputes in Nangabo and Kasangati, keeping the LC1 argument in national headlines. Kigezi had its own village contests. Anyone with a petition still in the system should keep the documents that were stamped on polling day — the commission will not reconstruct a tally from memory. _Based on EC and national reporting, 13 August 2026._
