Senior Kabale engineer interdicted over Kaharo road works

A senior engineer in Kabale District has been interdicted while investigators look into works on the Kabira–Kyabasho–Nyakasharara road in Kaharo. Chief Administrative Officer Robert Mugabe signed the letter on 10 August. The officer named is Levi Kansiime Turyahikayo. Public reports put the questioned expenditure in the region of Shs 5.4 million — a modest figure next to national contracts, but enough, district officials say, to test whether local road money is being handled by the book. Kaharo residents have long complained about the state of feeder roads that link trading centres to the Kabale–Katuna corridor. Interdiction is not a conviction. It does mean the engineer is off the file while the audit runs. Joy FM Newsroom will report the outcome when the district completes the process. _Based on district correspondence reported publicly, 11 August 2026._
