Kabale referral hospital X-ray and an oxygen plant down for about a month, minister says

Kabale Regional Referral Hospital has been without a working X-ray and with one of its three oxygen plants down for about a month, Health Minister Chris Baryomunsi said at the start of August. Patients who need a film have been sent to private rooms and charged around Shs 20,000 a time. That is a heavy extra bill for families who already travelled from Rubanda, Rukiga or Kisoro to the referral hospital. Baryomunsi’s remarks also touched the teaching-hospital side of Kabale. Interns and specialists cannot train on machines that do not run. Hospital managers have not yet given Joy FM a date for the repairs. _Based on the minister’s public comments, 2 August 2026._
