Kisoro chairperson wants a meeting with Museveni over the stalled tourism road

Kisoro District Chairperson Richard Ndyana is asking for a direct meeting with President Museveni over the stalled Kabale–Bunyonyi–Kisoro–Mgahinga upgrade. Ndyana said startup payments have gone out, but that has not translated into steady works on the ground. He wants the presidency to hear from district leaders who live with the dust, the potholes and the lost tourism time, not only from the contract files in Kampala. Kisoro sits at the end of the circuit, next to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. Local leaders argue that every extra month of delay is a month of higher vehicle costs and a weaker first impression for visitors entering through the south-western gate. _Based on regional reporting, 11 August 2026._
