Police: no night school transport this holiday, SP Kananura warns operators

Police have told school transporters there will be no night movement of learners this holiday. Spokesperson SP Michael Kananura said operators who try to slip out after dark should expect to be stopped. The police line matches the government window of 6am to 6pm. For Kabale, that means the last legal buses from Kampala need to leave with enough daylight to reach the hills, or children need to sleep in the city and travel in the morning. Parents should not pay a night special fare. If the van is moving learners after 6pm, it is moving against the order. _Based on police guidance issued this week, 11 August 2026._
