Iron ore plant for Rubanda still on the drawing board, minister says

Rubanda’s iron ore is again on the government talking list. Trade Minister David Bahati, speaking in Kabale in June, said an iron ore plant for Rubanda belongs in the same industrial conversation as potato processing in Kabale. The hills above Rubanda hold ore that has been mapped for years. What has been missing is a plant that turns it into something more than raw rock on a truck. Residents want jobs that stay in the district, and they want clarity on land, dust and water if heavy industry arrives.
